Renowned Spanish sports doctor Rafael Ramos stressed that football will have to undergo special measures in order to continue to function. Increased hygienic standards will require more demanding logistics.
One of the main measures must be to disinfect the balls and pitches before the match, during the break and subsequently after the match. "Thorough disinfection will reduce the risk of transmitting the infection," the doctor told DPA.
The new measures will mark the visual side of the game and thus the tactics in matches. For the potential spread of the disease, it is necessary to minimize the personal contact of players on the courts. "It will no longer be a contact game than before, we need to rethink the approach to the game and adapt it as much as possible to the health of the players," Ramos added.
The local health minister has said that the Spanish league, one of the largest in Europe, will not be rebuilt until the summer.
