According to a Deloitte survey, the 20 richest European football clubs recorded a total loss of 1.1 billion euros as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The consultants of the accounting firm estimate that this number may increase to two billion euros by the end of the 2020/2021 season.
The reason for the high losses is the lack of revenue from the sale of tickets and lower profits from the sale of television rights. Barcelona leads the ranking of the richest football clubs with revenues totaling 715.1 million euros, but compared to 2018/2019, it recorded 125.7 million lower revenues. The second place belongs to her rival from the Spanish league Real Madrid, who earned 714.9 mil. The third is the reigning German champion and champion of the Bayern Munich Champions League (634.1).
