The finals of the South American Liberators Cup will take place on January 30 at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro without spectators. This was announced by the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) together with the Brazilian umbrella organization CBF. The reason is the coronavirus pandemic, which is still not improving in the region.

"The virus is still spreading and does not allow us to organize such a large and important event with fans in the stands, even with a minimal visit," DPA quoted a joint opinion of CONMEBOL and CBF.

In the finals of the South American equivalent of the Champions League, the winners of the semifinals Palmeiras - River Plate and Boca Juniors - FC Santos will meet.
