MUNICH - Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac will have to do without Lucas Hernandez for a long time.

French defender and world champion from 2018 injured his right ankle in Tuesday's A-Group Champions League match 2019/2020 at Olympiakos Piraeus (3: 2). Wednesday's examinations confirmed that he had partially torn internal ligaments and his absence would be longer than initially expected.

Sports director of the Bavarian club Hasan Salihamijich shortly after the match estimated the absence of Hernandez for several weeks. The 20-year-old left-hand back is another significant loss in Bayern's defenses after the Munichers lost tracker Niklas Süle, who has a torn front cruciate ligament in his left knee. Informed DPA.
