Troy Deeney, a Watfort striker, says there is probably at least one gay man in each club.
"I think people who are gay or from this community are definitely very afraid that they will have to take responsibility for it.
Deeney believes that if a world-class footballer declared him gay, that wouldn't be a problem.
"I wonder for people to finish football, rugby, any sport and only then come up with a statement about their orientation. It seems that carrying this burden is not an easy thing during a sports career. "
Former Norwich and Nottingham striker Justin Fashanu, who revealed his orientation in 1990, remains the only footballer in British history to openly state that he is gay.
