Villarreal's excellent start to the season continued on Friday night as they made light work of Alaves in a 4-1 victory for the Yellow Submarine at the Estadio de la Ceramica.
In-form striker Toko Ekambi gave the hosts the ideal start on 13 minutes when he connected with Gerard Moreno's assist on the back of a fast counter-attack from Villarreal.
The hosts dominated the first half and were left to rue their failure to extend their lead when Lucas Perez made it 1-1 with a fantastic bicycle kick on 50 minutes.
The leveller seemed to spark Villarreal back into life and it didn't take long before Ekambi doubled his tally to make it 2-1, netting his fifth goal in four games for his side.
The hosts made sure of the win in the closing stages thanks to late goals from Moreno and Javier Ontiveros.
Albeit temporarily, the win moves Villarreal up to third place in LaLiga Santander, ahead of the weekend fixtures.
