(Reading time: 1 - 2 minutes)

Precise defensive performance ensured Newcastle United footballers to quit the four-match line without a league win. A great part of the valuable triumph over Chelsea (1: 0) had by Slovak goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka, who played sixth matches without goal in this season. On St. James Park of London's Chelsea visually dominated, but Isaac Hayden's goal at the end of the match decided three points for the "magpies".

It was Steve Bruce's men who, despite the predominance of the guests, developed the greatest opportunity of the match. Brazilian Joelinton hada great header just to the crossbar. A defensive performance led by Dúbravka and defense conductor Jamaal Lascelles performed 100%. N'Gola Kante's first chance shot was catched by Dúbravka, and Tammy Abraham's close-up in the second half was kicked by one of the defenders in front of the goal line. Frank Lampard's men had no chances anymore, and after Hayden's goal, they left Newcastle without a point. "Newcastle has a great defense in terms of system and it is difficult to work up goal chances. Despite the predominance in every aspect of the game we could not get to score. You dominate the whole game and at the end you got the goal, that's the brutal reality of football, " said Lampard for BBC.com.

Dúbravka has his sixth clean account in the current league season. "The Magpies" increased  by 3 points thier lead from relegation zone  to 7 points. "We played great in defense. We can't play with a high assault like Chelsea. The important thing is that our style is hard to play for the rest of the Premier League," Bruce said. Newcastle will perform at Goodison Park on Tuesday, January 21st, against Everton. Chelsea welcomes Arsenal in the city derby the same day.
