(Reading time: 1 minute)

The Italian football club FC Torino fired Marco Giampola as head coach on Monday.

The decision was made after Saturday's draw with Spezia 0-0, which played from the 8th minute without the excluded midfielder Luca Vignali. "It was the worst match of the season," said club owner Urbano Cairo after the match. Turin ranks 18th in the table, when they collected only thirteen points in the eighteen duels of the current season.

Fifty-three-year-old Giampaolo came to the club in August. "The club thanks Giampola and his assistants for the professionalism and determination they have shown in recent months," the statement said. Giampaolo had previously coached AC Milan, but that dismissed him after seven games in October 2019.

According to the Italian media, he could become the new coach of David Nicola. The 47-year-old helmsman led Genoa last year, having previously worked in Bari, Crotone and Udinese. The AFP agency informed.
