French footballer Dayot Upamecano will be wearing the Bayern Munich jersey from next season. The reigning German, European and world club champion agreed on the arrival of the 22-year-old defender with RB Leipzig for 43 million euros, which is the player's redemption clause in the contract valid until 2023.

Upamecano is to fill the hole after the announced departure of David Alaba, whose contract expires in June. The transfer was confirmed by Bayern's sports director Hasan Salihamidžič to Bild: "We are very pleased that we managed to convince him. We had an intense and professional debate with the player and his agent, we showed our vision and we prevailed in the strong competition."
