Who is Ilaix Moriba?
Moriba is just one of countless top talents to have made their way through Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy over the years.
The midfielder is still primarily plying his trade with Barca B, but this past campaign saw Ronald Koeman hand the youngster some first-team action.
The 18-year-old made his senior debut towards the end of January, featuring for 74 minutes in the Copa del Rey vs UE Cornellà.
And Moriba has since been handed 17 more appearances for the Blaugrana, 14 of these coming in La Liga, two more in the Copa del Rey – including a short outing in the final which Barca won – and one in the Champions League vs PSG.
Man United-linked Moriba could leave Barcelona
After bursting onto the scene at the Camp Nou, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claimed that the teen has received two firm offers from Manchester United and RB Leipzig.
At the time though, MD added that Moriba, who had just less than 18 months left on his current contract, intended to continue with the Catalonians.
A fresh development this week, however, suggests that Moriba could potentially be on his way out of Barcelona in the near future.
As per the Daily Mail, citing Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona could be prepared to let Moriba – who now has just over 12 months left on his contract – leave this summer if he does not lower his demands.
The youngster is said to have an £86m release clause, but if Barca do cash in as the report suggests they may end up doing, a lower fee will most probably need to be accepted.
In terms of clubs interested in Moriba, the DM mention all of United, Manchester City and Chelsea.
