Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa was sentenced to six months in custody just after a tax fraud scandal of more than half a million euros broke out.

Like many football stars before him, Costa does not have to spend his punishment in the cold. Spanish law allows offenders who have not committed a violent crime and whose conviction period is less than 2 years to pay a financial penalty and avoid imprisonment.
Costa avoided paying more than one million euros in a transfer tax to Chelsea in 2014, joining La Liga's long list of players with similar experience. In the list we can also find players like Lionel Messi , Cristiano Ronaldo and Iker Casillas.
