Foden top of most valuable players list
There was no place for superstar striker Kylian Mbappe on CIES’ bi-annual list of top estimated transfer values.
The list, which covers the top five leagues in European football, is headed by three Englishmen and features five Premier League players.
According to CIES and their football algorithm, Phil Foden is the most valuable player in world football, with a worth of 190 million euros (roughly £163 million).
It comes just a day after the Manchester City sensation was voted PFA young player of the season after a glittering campaign in sky blue.

Foden is closely followed by Manchester United pair Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford, both of whom featured in the Europa League final two weeks ago. Dortmund marksman Erling Haaland sits in fourth place, just ahead of Bruno Fernandes and Barcelona duo Frenkie De Jong and Pedri.

Mbappe out of the top 10
Perhaps the most shocking development was the fact that Paris Saint Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has dropped out of the top ten most expensive players, despite being considered a generational talent.
The Frenchman has just scooped up his third consecutive Ligue 1 golden boot and is set to form a devastating attack with Karim Benzema and Antoinne Greizemann at this summer’s European Championships.
One thing that may count against him, however, is his contract. His current deal at the Parc de Princes runs out next summer, a factor that may affect his value.
However, it clearly does not affect his value to PSG. Club president Nasser Al Khelaifi told L’equipe that “we will never sell him and he will never leave the club as a free agent”, suggesting that their valuation of the superstar is well above the 118 million euros suggested by CIES.
PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi: “I will be clear. Kylian Mbappé will continue here at Paris Saint-Germain, we will never sell him and he will never leave the club as a free agent. Impossible”, he told @lequipe. #PSG #Mbappé

Whilst the CIES list does give some indication of performance over the past six months, it is difficult to believe that the values suggested would ever truly be paid for the players on the list, with many considered “untouchable” by their clubs.
