Arsenal see off Sheffield United

Arsenal faced off with Sheffield United a short time ago.

The Gunners headed into the tie with little to play for in the Premier League, with a European finish looking very unlikely at this stage in the campaign.

Despite this, Arsenal nevertheless gave it their all on Sunday, and managed to come away with a fairly comfortable win.

Alexandre Lacazette found the net twice against the Blades, whilst Gabriel Martinelli bagged his first goal of the campaign:

Tierney expected to be out for remainder of the season

An otherwise positive evening for the north Londoners, however, was marred somewhat by injury issues.

Bukayo Saka limped out of Sunday’s game with what appeared to be a thigh issue. Gabriel Martinelli also picked up a knock, and was eventually taken off.

Following the clash, meanwhile, Mikel Arteta didn’t exactly clear things up when it came to Saka’s injury:

Arteta on Saka’s injury: “I don’t know. He had discomfort in his thigh. It’s the last thing we need. For Thursday, David will be out, Kieran will be out. Emile and Martin we don’t know yet.”

The Spaniard seemed slightly more upbeat when discussing Martinelli’s problem:

“He was pretty sore but he’s a tough boy.”

However, Arteta then revealed his belief that Kieran Tierney, who picked up an injury last weekend, is now likely to sit out the remainder of the season:

“Kieran is out, probably for the season.”
