Martinez impressing with Aston Villa
After impressing with Arsenal following the restart of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, Martinez was sold to Aston Villa in September of 2020 for a fee believed to be around £17m.
And since making the switch to the Midlands, some Arsenal fans are probably questioning why their club allowed the Argentine to depart.

Villa have looked a much-improved side this season after barely staving off relegation last term.
And Martinez has been a key reason why, helping improve Villa’s defensive record a great deal.
In 30 league outings this season, Martinez has managed a very impressive 14 clean sheets.
Aston Villa expecting Martinez interest
Despite being at Villa Park for less than a year, though, it appears Aston Villa are already expecting to receive interest in their no.1.
Manchester United were credited with an interest in the Argentine earlier this year.
And though his current contract at Villa runs until the summer of 2024, Football Insider have reported on Tuesday that the Lions are braced for a massive summer offer for Emiliano Martinez, with Man United’s interest also highlighted in the article.
No potential fee is mentioned by FI, but given just how impressive he has been since he left Arsenal, you would imagine it would take a fairly large sum for Villa to part with Martinez just a year after signing him.
