Chelsea see off Porto
Chelsea were back in Champions League action on Tuesday evening.
The Blues faced off with FC Porto in the second of two quarter-final clashes, boasting a 2-0 lead from the first leg.
Tuesday’s game was unspectacular to say the least, but Chelsea were able to limit Porto’s chances, and though they lost the tie 1-0 on the day, the Londoners still of course went through on aggregate.
Chelsea are now set to face one of Real Madrid or Liverpool in the semi-finals, with Thomas Tuchel suggesting post-Porto that he would rather play Madrid due to him not liking to play against teams from the same league in the CL:
“In general I like not to play against teams from your same league in the Champions League as it gives more of a feeling of a European competition but that is the only thing. The game is far from over but I will watch it for sure.
“Everything is possible. Liverpool are very strong at home so we take what we get. It is a good situation for us.”

Kovacic likely out vs Man City
Chelsea are now set to turn their attention to an FA Cup semi-final clash with Manchester City on Saturday.
With Southampton and Leicester the other two sides remaining, the winner on Saturday is likely fancying their chances of going all the way in the competition.
Ahead of the clash, though, Tuchel confirmed that Mateo Kovacic, who missed out vs Porto due to a muscle injury, is a doubt for the weekend’s game as well:
“Kovacic got a muscle injury out of almost nothing. We played a training game in little boxes, his hamstring. He is unsure for the game against City as well. He is a big loss.”
