In this article, we will cover all of today’s Chelsea transfer news.
Haaland alternative found
Chelsea’s pursuit of Erling Haaland this summer has been one of the worst kept secrets in world football. However, it seems as though a move is not forthcoming, with Chelsea unwilling to cough up the “crazy” amount of money that would tempt the German club into a sale.
Borussia Dortmund have not received any official bid yet for Haaland. BVB know about Chelsea interest, their position is clear: if a “crazy” bid won’t arrive, he’ll stay. #BVB
If Haaland stays, the race will be open to many clubs next summer – €75m release clause. #CFC

As a result, other targets have emerged. 101 on a potential bid for Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski on Sunday, but he is far from the only option. A more surprising alternative, as per The Athletic, is Stuttgart forward Sasa Kalajdzic.

The 24 year old Austrian forward would, at 6ft6 tall, add some much-needed presence to Chelsea’s attack, while he netted 17 goals in 36 appearances last campaign. Another option touted is Southampton’s Danny Ings, who has one year left to run on his current deal and is looking to test himself at a higher level.
Of course, neither striker would excite the fanbase to anything like the level of Haaland’s arrival, but would they do the job for Thomas Tuchel’s side?
Guehi departure confirmed
On the departures front, Marc Guehi is the latest to leave Chelsea’s youth set-up on a permanent basis. The defender impressed on his loan spell at Swansea City last season, helping the Swans into the play-off final and making 43 appearances in the process.

Now, in the search of first-team football, the highly-rated defender has crossed London to join Crystal Palace. While the deal is favourable to Chelsea, with the club having the first refusal on the player in the future, it remains a hefty blow to the Blues.
Chelsea in the race for Varane
Could it be one defender out and one in for Chelsea this summer? Although it seems unlikely given their current crop of centre-backs even without Guehi, Spanish reports suggest that this could well be the case.
As per Marca, The Blues have entered the race for wantaway Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, who was thought to be heading to Manchester to join the Red Devils.
Situation clear on Varane side. He’s ready to accept Manchester United contract proposal until 2026 if the agreement between clubs with Real Madrid will be reached in the next days/weeks. #MUFC
Varane will be respectful with Real – but he’d love a Premier League experience. https://t.co/ltluFh8KSW

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has already spoken of how Varane would “love a Premier League experience”, and while a move to the North of England was seemingly on the cards, could he be tempted to join the European champions instead?
