ESL to “save football”

The president of the new Super League and Real Madrid Florentino Perez conducted an interview yesterday evening in which he revealed that he believes the plans are in order to “save football.”

The Los Blancos figurehead claimed that interest in the sport was diminishing due to a lack of interesting fixtures.

“Whenever there is a change, there are always people who oppose it. We are doing this to save football at this critical moment,” he said.

“Audiences are decreasing and rights are decreasing and something had to be done. We are all ruined. Television has to change so we can adapt.

“Young people are no longer interested in football. Why not? Because there are a lot of poor quality games and they are not interested, they have other platforms on which to distract themselves.”

Claims Perez lied about Bayern Munich, Dortmund & PSG

Amongst the 12 original founders, there were no presence of PSG, Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund. Perez said that the trio had yet to be invited.

“PSG were not invited, as of today. We haven’t even spoken to German clubs. We are now 12 clubs, we want to become 15 clubs. If PSG and Bayern Munich refuse, the Super League won’t be cancelled,” he claimed.

However, this has seemingly been disproven and there are accusations this is a straight up lie.

According to documents obtained by the notable investigative media outlet Der Spiegel, all three clubs have in fact been invited.

Backlash grows

Criticisms of Perez and Real Madrid’s financial decision-making has grown in the wake of Perez’s claims of football needing to be saved from the financial situation it finds itself in.

Florentino Pérez paid £160m combined for a 28 year old Hazard in the last year of his contract & Luka Jović who he’s already shipped out on loan and now wants to give a sermon about the crippling state of clubs’ finances as a motivation for the Super League. Spare us the bullsh*t
