An Instagram Live session held by Dele Alli on Monday has since provoked quite the reaction from the Tottenham faithful.

Spurs woes

Alli has of course endured a campaign to forget to date.

The English international, after falling somewhat out of favour over the latter months of last season, has since seen his game-time fall off a cliff under the watch of Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese, known for his no nonsense style when it comes to players he feels do not pull their weight, has afforded Alli a paltry two Premier League starts thus far in 2020/21.

The 25-year-old has featured more frequently in cup competition, even showcasing signs of a potential revival in starring displays in the Europa League.

🗣”To have Alli back at this level is amazing”

But such showings, despite subsequent praise from Mourinho, have been swiftly followed by Alli returning to the bench on the domestic front, as the gifted midfielder’s career continues to inch towards a grinding halt.

‘If you’re Jose out…’

As such, amid such a difficult moment for a player who once looked set to establish himself as one of the Premier League’s best, it has not come as too much of a surprise to see Alli’s online activity come under the microscope of late.

And, as outlined above, tonight proved no different.

Taking to Instagram, the Tottenham star held a live session, during which he was able to interact with fans via a Q & A.

The messages sent in inevitably proved something of a mixed bag, ranging from support to recommendations to focus more on matters on the pitch, and even a shout out to youngster Alfie Devine.

It was one particular comment, however, which has since resulted in Alli going viral across Twitter.

This came when one fan, evidently of the opinion that Jose Mourinho should be relieved of his duties in north London as soon as possible, posted the following:

‘Wear a black cap if you’re Jose out’

Alli, as showcased in the video below, was already sporting a black cap, but his ensuing adjustment has since led many to suggest that the midfielder was subtly hinting at his agreement with the sentiment:

“WEAR A BLACK CAP IF YOU’RE JOSE OUT” 😭😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/vVFteplH04

Whether such actions were intentional or not will of course remain known only to Alli himself, but, if the reaction to have followed on social media is anything to go by, most of a Spurs persuasion already appear to have made their minds up:

Don’t know how IG live comments work but no way this is a coincidence lool https://t.co/If53NE7bEl
