Premier League heavyweights Manchester United have struck a contract agreement with Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, according to reports.

Making moves

Ongoings on the red half of Manchester have of course taken centre stage in the media of late.

This comes as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. go about building a squad capable of mounting a sustained challenge for the Premier League title over the season to come.

Thus far, the most high-profile arrival at Old Trafford has come in the form of Jadon Sancho, after the Red Devils finally struck a deal with Borussia Dortmund worth a fee believed to be in the region of £73 million.

The board at the Theatre of Dreams, though, look far from ready to rest on their laurels.

United are understood to be on the lookout for reinforcements in the middle of the park, too, with recent days having seen Wolves’ Ruben Neves tipped to join Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes at the heart of a star-studded midfield in Manchester.

Strong reports coming out that Manchester United are seriously interested in singing Ruben Neves and Bruno Fernandes is pushing for the move.

Varane incoming?

And, as outlined above, on Thursday, major progress towards pushing what could prove to be the deal to truly guide United back to the top of English football has been made.

As per a report from Goal, Raphael Varane, heavily linked with a Premier League switch of late, has agreed to the terms of a five-year contract with Solskjaer’s side.

The contract in question would see the Frenchman handed what is described as a ‘significant’ hike to his current €6 million-per-season wage packet with Real Madrid.

As things stand, no agreement has been found between the respective boards at Old Trafford and the Bernabeu, but Varane himself is said to be happy to ‘play the waiting game’, confident of a transfer coming to fruition.

However, the two clubs are yet to strike a deal for his transfer.
