Edinson Cavani inched ever closer to a club record held by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, in finding the net for Manchester United versus Burnley on Sunday.
Greenwood at the double
Solskjaer’s men were of course back in action earlier this evening.
The Red Devils welcomed Burnley to Old Trafford, for a Premier League showdown.
United headed into proceedings with confidence no doubt high in the club’s camp, after booking their spot in the semi-finals of the Europa League courtesy of a 4th win on the bounce in midweek.
And, when all was said and done today, the Manchester giants’ impressive streak only lengthened.
Mason Greenwood put United on their way to three points early in the 2nd-half, only for James Tarkowski to drag Burnley on level terms just minutes later:

Star of the show Greenwood was back at it again inside the closing ten minutes, though, lashing home a deflected strike from the right, to break the resistance of a stubborn Clarets outfit once more.
And there was even time for substitute Edinson Cavani to add some gloss to the scoreline with a late United 3rd, slotting home from close range after a pull-back from fellow substitute Donny van de Beek.
The latest strike on the part of the Red Devils’ veteran hitman, though, did not only prove significant in putting a game Burnley side to bed once and for all this evening.
As outlined above, it also saw Cavani inch ever closer to a club record shared by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Javier Hernandez.
As revealed by the reliable Opta, the former PSG man has now found the net off the bench on four occasions in the Premier League this season.
This is just one goal shy of the Manchester United club record five notched by Solskjaer in 1999, and Hernandez in 2011:
4 – Edinson Cavani has now scored four goals as a substitute in the Premier League this season, with only Chicharito (5 in 10-11) and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (5 in 98-99) netting more in a single season for the Red Devils. Super. pic.twitter.com/hzRRsREnmQ
