European Super League backlash

The announcement of the proposed European Super League has been met by a major backlash from all over the world.

Just some of the high-profile figures to express their displeasure at the ESL already include the UK Prim Minister Boris Johnson, the Duke of Cambridge Prince William and a number of former players, the two most notable of course being Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher:

Perhaps one of the biggest positives, though, has come on Tuesday when Marcus Rashford shared his thoughts on the ESL via Twitter, simply posting a photo with a quote from Sir Matt Busby which reads ‘football is nothing without fans’:

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson has also scheduled a meeting between Premier League club captains to discuss the ESL on Wednesday.

Fans speak out against ESL

Nobody, though, has been more vocal in expressing their views on the Super League than fans.

Liverpool were the first of the ESL sides to play a match following its announcement, facing off with Leeds United on Monday.

Ahead of kick-off, a number of fans would gather outside Ellan Road to protest.

And 101 were able to interview a number of fans at the protest, with supporters from all of Liverpool, Leeds and Arsenal speaking out against the Super League:
