Balogun’s uncertain future
Folarin Balogun’s long-term future at Arsenal has been up in the air for some time now.
The 19-year-old is a product of Arsenal’s youth system and has been impressing in their youth ranks for a while.
In 47 ties for the Gunners’ under-23s, Balogun has found the net 21 times and provided six assists.
The centre-forward has also been handed the odd chance in Mikel Arteta’s side. Featuring four times in the Europa League group stages, where he would score two and assist one.
However, at present, Balogun’s contract at the Emirates is set to expire in the summer.
When speaking back in March, Mikel Arteta claimed he was positive about talks over Balogun’s deal:
“I think I am pretty positive about it and every time I spoke to him, he mentions the same thing, that he’s determined to stay here and he wants to stay here.
“He has some really positive conversations with his agent as well and [Arsenal technical director] Edu is in charge of that.”
But no new deal has yet been forthcoming, with reports earlier this year claiming that the youngster could be set to depart Arsenal on a free and join RB Leipzig.
Balogun signs new Arsenal deal
This past weekend, though, Arsenal were handed some good news on the Balogun front as it was reported by the Daily Mail that the forward was close to signing a new contract with the north Londoners.
Now, on Wednesday, a fresh update on Balogun’s contract situation has been provided courtesy of Fabrizio Romano.
And in a big boost to the Arsenal faithful, Romano is reporting that Balogun has now signed a new contract with Arsenal until 2025.
It is added that the youngster received more than 15 proposals to sign as a free agent, with the biggest coming from German outfit, Bayer Leverkusen:
