(Reading time: 2 - 3 minutes)

Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick this evening confirmed his plans to step down as the manager of Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

Musiala shining

Flick and co. were back in action a short time ago.

The Bavarians made the trip to the Volkswagen Arena, for a Bundesliga showdown with high-flying Wolfsburg.

Bayern of course headed into proceedings in search of a bounce-back result, after seeing their hopes of retaining the Champions League go up in smoke during the week, at the hands of PSG.

And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what the German heavyweights managed.

A thrilling 90 minutes of action eventually saw the visitors emerge on the right side of a 3-2 scoreline, to open their advantage atop the Bundesliga table to a full seven points.

Youngster Jamal Musiala proved the star of the show, bagging a brace either side of Jean-Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s finish to send Bayern well on their way to a 9th-straight league title:

How is Jamal Musiala this good already?

Flick headed for the exit door

As outlined above, however, on another positive day all told for the Bavarian giants, the mood in the club’s dressing room this evening is in fact likely one of a sombre nature.

This comes after manager Hansi Flick, who of course guided Bayern to a historic treble less than 12 months ago, announced his intention to move on in the summer.

Speaking during a post-match interview on Saturday, the German revealed to the waiting media that he had informed his players of his plans to terminate his contract come the conclusion of the campaign:

Breaking | Hansi Flick has told his players that he wants to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season: “I told the team today that I informed the club during the week after the game in Paris that I would like to terminate my contract at the end of the season.” (Sky Germany)

Flick’s announcement of course comes as speculation continues to swirl around the German national team’s bench.

Jogi Low’s post-European Championship departure has already been confirmed, with the Bayern boss having already been hotly tipped as a potential replacement for his fellow countryman with Die Mannschaft.
