Guardiola full of Bellingham praise
Manchester City had to come from behind against Borussia Dortmund yesterday evening to progress to the last 4 of the Champions League.
After going behind to a Jude Bellingham goal, a penalty from Riyad Mahrez and a long-range strike from Phil Foden was enough to send them through.
After the match though, Pep Guardiola admitted to being blown away by the quality of Bellingham.
“He’s so good for a 17-year-old. I saw him when he didn’t get the ball from the central defenders and he was shouting at them, demanding the ball. I spoke with his manager, Edin, and he said what you see in these two games is like every training session,” said Guardiola.
🗣”Maybe he is a liar.” 🤣

Could the Spanish coach’s admiration for the former Birmingham City midfielder hint at interest in a possible future move?
City’s midfield options
Considering the fact that Bellingham plays in the central part of the midfield, City could be keen to add further reinforcement.
City have been using a variety of options in their pivot positions including Fernandinho, Rodri and Ilkay Gundogan.

Guardiola’s system has even seen his full-backs such as Joao Cancelo and Oleksandr Zinchenko position themselves as additional midfield assets.
The Brazilian Fernandinho’s contract expires at the end of the summer and he has confirmed that decision on his future will wait until the campaign’s end.
“I know how much my teammates need me. I made a decision to only decide my future when the season is over. I already had an offer, not to be part of Pep’s staff, but to be an employee of the club,” he said.
With the 35-year-old looking likely to leave, could Bellingham be on City’s list?
