An insight into the potential knock-on effect of Folarin Balogun penning fresh terms with Arsenal has been forthcoming online on Thursday.
The story surrounding young hitman Balogun’s future has of course taken centre stage at the Emirates this week.
This comes with the 19-year-old having finally put to bed the long-time speculation surrounding his name, by committing to a a new long-term Arsenal deal.
As revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Balogun has put pen to paper on a contract in north London through 2025, despite the interest of as many as 15 other clubs:
Folarin Balogun has signed his new contract with Arsenal until June 2025, done and completed.
He received more than 15 proposals to sign as a free agent – Bayer Leverkusen made the biggest one. Edu Gaspar and Arteta convinced Balogun to stay and sign a new contract. ⚪️🔴 #AFC https://t.co/qXWfnrp5zW

Whilst Balogun’s commitment of course marks positive news for Arsenal as a whole, though, it could actually prove to be a blow for another of the club’s up and coming young attackers.
The player in question? Eddie Nketiah.
21-year-old Nketiah has of course endured an altogether hit-and-miss campaign to date.
The English youth international has managed a respectable 25 appearances across all competitions, but just three have come in the form of starts in the Premier League.
This comes with Nketiah sitting behind the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in the centre-forward pecking order in the capital.

In turn, with Balogun’s new deal likely to have been based around assurances on the part of Mikel Arteta and co. that the teenage talent would soon be handed further senior opportunities, Nketiah’s place at the Emirates is beginning to look increasingly uncertain.
And, as outlined above, on Thursday, an update on the situation has been forthcoming online.
The info comes courtesy of the reliable Jack Rosser of the Evening Standard, who suggests that West Ham are ready to reignite their interest in Nketiah’s signature.
The Irons made clear their willingness to strike a deal for the hitman during the January window, but saw their advances rebuffed.
Now, though, as per Rosser, the board at the London Stadium have expressed fresh hope that Arsenal’s stance has softened, with a summer transfer for Nketiah looking a genuine possibility.
