Who should start for England?

England’s best starting eleven has been one of the biggest talking points heading into Euro 2020.

Gareth Southgate’s options are slightly limited at centre-back, especially with Harry Maguire’s injury issue.

Further forward, however, Southgate has countless top talents to pick from.

Harry Kane is a nailed-on starter for the Three Lions, but who plays next to him?

Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling, Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Mason Mount are arguably competing for just two/three spots this summer.

Jose Mourinho has his say on England’s best elven

Now, Jose Mourinho has shared his thoughts on England’s best elven.

And, starting at left-back, the former Manchester United boss stated he would opt for Ben Chilwell over Luke Shaw:

“Left-back I would go with Ben Chilwell, I wouldn’t think twice. He is intelligent, he covers the space, the diagonals inside very well, he is dangerous in attack, he is good in the air, good on set-pieces.

“Shaw had a good season and clearly an evolution in terms of emotion, professionalism, but Chilwell has something more, especially with the ball, the way he thinks, he is very calm under pressure. I like Chilwell.”

The Portuguese then moved further up the pitch, labelling Harry Kane and Jack Grealish as untouchable:

“Harry Kane is untouchable, Jack Grealish is untouchable and the best position for Grealish is coming from the left.

Mourinho then went on to state that Grealish reminds him of Portugal legend, Luis Figo:

“For me, Marcus Rashford can only play there. When he plays on the right, he is completely lost. He is very good on the left attacking spaces, but Grealish for me is tremendous and what he creates and his personality. He reminds me of Luis Figo. I like him very much.”
