(Reading time: 1 - 2 minutes)

Concern has spread amongst the Arsenal fanbase this evening, after Bukayo Saka was forced to depart the club’s meeting with Sheffield United.

Laca & Martinelli on target

The Gunners are of course currently locked in Premier League action at Bramall Lane.

Mikel Arteta’s men headed into the clash with little to play for, no doubt with one eye firmly on the club’s crucial upcoming meeting with Slavia Prague.

As things stand in Sheffield, though, Arsenal are nevertheless well on their way towards all three points.

Alexandre Lacazette opened the evening’s scoring just past the half-hour mark, slotting beyond Aaron Ramsdale to cap off a sumptuous team move on the part of the visitors:

Look at that passing 😍

An absolutely brilliant goal from Arsenal!

Then, twenty minutes from time, a concerted spell of pressure saw Arsenal make it two, when Gabriel Martinelli finished into an empty net after Ramsdale kept out Nicolas Pepe’s initial effort.

Saka hobbled

As outlined above, however, whilst the Gunners, as things stand, are on course for a morale boosting victory, they have also been forced to deal with a major concern on the personnel front this evening.

This came midway through the 2nd-half of action, when, after going to ground with what appeared to be a thigh issue, Bukayo Saka was forced to limp off:

The English international was subsequently spotted on the away side’s bench with an ice pack strapped around his leg, in the kind of scenes Mikel Arteta was no doubt desperate to avoid ahead of his side’s most important outing of the season on Thursday.
