Wan-Bissaka’s Man United stint
Aaron Wan-Bissaka would of course join Manchester United from Crystal Palace in 2019.
The full-back did set the Red Devils back a fairly hefty sum, believed to be around £50m including add-ons.
Since his switch to Old Trafford, though, Wan-Bissaka has proven himself to be a very solid purchase.
And though United’s backline could still do with some tweaking, the purchases of Harry Maguire and AWB along with Luke Shaw’s resurgence has certainly improved upon what the Red Devils were working with under Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal.
What AWB wants to take from Fernandes
But though he has proven himself to be solid defensively, Wan-Bissaka is lacking somewhat in the attacking side of his game.
And it is seemingly this which has seen his chances for England be very limited. When speaking about not picking him at the back end of 2020, Gareth Southgate appeared to hint that it was Wan-Bissaka’s lack of attacking prowess which has led to others being picked ahead of him:
“Aaron is a very good defender, one against one he’s probably as good as I have seen, but I have to look at the balance of the team and currently there are players ahead of him.”
So, when asked in an interview with Manchester United what attribute he would take from one of his teammates, it wasn’t too surprising to see the defender opt for the vision of Bruno Fernandes:
“If I could add any attribute from any team-mate to my game, I’d have to pick Bruno’s vision.
“In training, if I’m against him, I’ll think he’s going for an obvious pass, say over my right shoulder, but then he’ll play it somewhere else in another way. He’s so unpredictable.
“I want to achieve a lot here. I think anything’s possible for this club and this team.”
