A report from England over the weekend has credited Manchester United with Pape Sarr, but who is the youngster?
Who is Pape Sarr?
Pape Sarr is currently plying his trade in Ligue 1 with Metz, who he joined in September of 2020 after departing his home country of Senegal.
Sarr is a defensive midfielder but he is also capable of playing slightly further forward.
Despite having zero experience in European football before this season and the fact he is still just 18 years of age, Sarr has already begun to feature fairly regularly for the French outfit.
Sarr would not make his Ligue 1 debut until the back end of November, featuring for 35 minutes in a 2-0 loss vs Stade Brest.
However, 2021 has since seen Sarr earn himself a regular spot in Metz’s starting line-up.
The youngster has featured in all 16 of their Ligue 1 ties since the 9th of January.
He has also earned his first senior international cap during the last international break, featuring for 79 minutes vs Congo in an African Cup of Nations qualifier.

Man United linked with Pape Sarr
Now, after enjoying a decent breakout season in France, Sarr is being linked with one of Europe’s top clubs.
According to the Sun, Manchester United are ‘on the trail’ of Sarr.
United, as well as other unmade European clubs, are believed to have watched the central midfielder regularly.
No potential fee is mentioned in the report, but Sarr’s current deal runs till 2025 so Metz are probably unlikely to be pressured into selling him already.
