Aguero to depart Man City

It was of course announced last month that Sergio Aguero will depart Manchester City at the expiration of his contract this summer.

The Argentine will go down as one of both Man City and the Premier League’s greatest-ever players.

Aguero has netted 181 times in the English top-flight, making him the division’s 4th highest top-scorer ever, and the highest-scoring non-Englishman on the list. The forward is currently just six goals shy of Andy Cole in 3rd, and could yet overtake him before the season’s end.

Aguero is also in possession of the best minutes-per-goal ratio of any player who has netted at least 50 times in the Premier League:

📊 Players with the best minutes per goal ratio in Premier League history (min. 50 goals):

🇦🇷 Sergio Aguero – 108
🇫🇷 Thierry Henry – 122
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Harry Kane – 122

Aguero to leave Premier League

With Aguero now set to present an excellent free-agent option, a host of clubs have of course been tipped to move for the hitman.

To date, all of Manchester United, Leeds, Tottenham, Barcelona and Chelsea have been credited with an interest in Aguero.

However, it was the latter of that group who it has been claimed recently are winning the race for the veteran forward.

Now, though, a report from Spanish outlet Sport has dealt Chelsea something of a blow on the Aguero front.

Sport claim that Aguero is talking to Juventus and is clear that he will leave the Premier League.

The report also details Barca’s interest in Aguero, though they say the City man will need to take a pay-cut if he wishes to come to the Camp Nou.
