Rangers have taken to social media to aim a dig at fierce rivals Celtic this evening, on the back of their latest victory over the Hoops.

Gers reign supreme

Old Firm rivalries were renewed at Ibrox earlier today, as Scottish football’s two biggest clubs faced off for a spot in the 5th-round of the cup.

The clash marked a crucial one for Celtic, who of course saw their lengthy hold over the top-flight title up north brought to a definitive end at the hands of their fellow Glaswegians last month.

In turn, the Bhoys were no doubt absolutely desperate to restore some pride, with a victory at the home of the Gers on Sunday.

When all was said and done, however, the might of the champions again simply proved too much.

Steven Davis opened the game’s scoring with 10 minutes on the clock, before a Jonjoe Kenny own goal doubled Rangers’ advantage shortly before the interval:

👏 A fantastic finish from @StevenDavis8 gives @RangersFC an early advantage at Ibrox.#ScottishCup

Celtic, to their credit, did create enough clear-cut chances – the most notable of which saw Odsonne Edouard fluff his lines from the penalty spot – to get back on terms:

Odsonne Édouard’s penalty is saved by Allan McGregor! 😱

But, in the end, the efforts of John Kennedy’s men proved to be in vain, as Rangers marched on to set up a quarter-final meeting with St. Johnstone.

‘Glasgow is blue’

As outlined above, though, their eventual victory didn’t provide quite enough satisfaction for some of those involved with the Light Blues.

Instead, the club’s social media team made sure to rub the noses of their neighbours very much in their cup exit, via a series of posts across Twitter.

One in particular to have caught the eye is showcased below, in which the Gers appear to take aim at aforementioned Celtic boss Kennedy over his recent suggestion that, on their day, the Hoops remain Scottish football’s best side:

🙌 A win against the best team in the league.

The fun, though, didn’t stop there…
